Located at the water’s edge of one of North Carolina’s most beautiful mountain lakes, this vacation home is blessed with an abundance of living space that makes a perfect year round retreat. This spacious home, tucked among tall hardwoods on a wide, quiet cove on Lake Lure, is filled with all the charm of a traditional mountain/lake cabin. While perfect for a summer vacation, this home also lends itself well to vacations in the off season when rates are lower. Numerous stone steps lead down from the parking area to the entrance to Water’s Edge.
The oversized entry room with its warm wood floors, high ceilings and massive stone fireplace divides the two living areas of this home. There is a Baldwin piano in the entry room which is the perfect setting for family entertainment, good books or quiet conversations before the fire. Up a half flight of stairs on the left are two charming bedrooms which share a ceramic tiled bath with shower. One bedroom with a set of bunk beds retains the original knotty pine paneling. The second bedroom has two twin beds and is decorated in the cottage style with white painted floors, periwinkle blue walls and charming white furniture with hand carved accents.
Up two stairs to the right of the entry is the spacious and sunny 19’ X 21’ living area. This room has new Berber carpet and upscale furniture, including an interesting hand carved cypress canoe posing as a cocktail table. Off the living area is a convenient powder room. On the second level the 15'x16' master bedroom suite adjoins a champagne deck overlooking the lake and has an expansive walk-in closet and a private ceramic tiled bath with tub/shower combination. The sumptuous king sized bed has a custom made pillow top mattress promising a blissful night’s sleep.
Please note that this house is on a ridge overlooking the lake and there are multiple steps and stairs to be navigated. |
Cooking dinner will be a joy in the pleasant open kitchen, as family and friends gather by the woodstove in the adjacent dining area. But mornings just might be your favorite time of day on the lake, sipping your coffee as you watch the sunlight dance across the water from the windows on 3 sides of the cheery breakfast nook. Off the dining area is a cozy screen porch overlooking the lake where you can spend idle hours napping and reading.
While a boat is not included with the rental of this home, boats can be rented at the nearby Lake Lure Adventure Company. Visit the Town of Lake Lure’s website for boating regulations and restrictions before your trip to ensure a stress-free vacation.
