| A Note from Sharon and Jack
In 1998, we “escaped” from the stresses of big city living and moved to Chimney Rock Village in the mountains of western North Carolina where we purchased a local bed and breakfast inn. Soon after, we purchased our first vacation rental home – River Rose Cottage – and it became very successful. Several guests at the inn fell in love with this area, purchased a second home here and asked us to manage their homes as vacation rentals. So, after five years of innkeeping, we decided to sell the inn and concentrate on the vacation rental home business. We formed Distinctive Mountain Lodging, a property management firm specializing in vacation rental homes. We now manage numerous vacation rental homes which are sprinkled throughout the scenic Hickory Nut Gorge, which consists of the towns of Lake Lure, Chimney Rock, Bat Cave and Gerton; and all are unique and special in some way. While we are licensed real estate brokers, our firm’s sole focus is the management of vacation rental homes. This means that our interests are not divided between renting vacation homes and selling property. All of our time, energy and talents are directed toward helping our guests choose the vacation rental home that best meets their needs. Distinctive Mountain Lodging is very selective in the homes we represent and we take pride in maintaining them in a professional manner to ensure that our guests enjoy a stress-free vacation. In 2010, our daughter, Heather, moved to Lake Lure from New Orleans and joined our firm as Assistant Property Manager. Heather enjoys meeting our guests and checking them in at our vacation rental homes. She has also fallen in love with the beautiful scenery and lifestyle of the Hickory Nut Gorge and will be happy to share her knowledge about activities and attractions in these mountain communities and let you in on her favorite shopping, restaurants and hiking trails. Our staff of meticulous housekeepers and dedicated maintenance personnel helps keep the homes in tip top shape.
